A residence permit for elective residence means a particular visa to reside in the Italian only, issued in four distinct cases. Let’s see together which and how they are carried out.
FOR FOREIGN CITIZEN HOLDER OF AN ENTRY VISA FOR ELECTIVE RESIDENCE
The residence visa Italy for elective residence ensures that the foreigner can enter Italy if he intends to settle in our country and if he can demonstrate that he has sufficient resources to maintain himself independently without exercising any working activity. In addition, the resident must prove that he has: the availability of a home to be elected as a residence; economic resources (pensions, annuities, real estate, stable economic-commercial activities or from other sources other than subordinate work). Once the foreigner has made regular entry into Italy, he must, within 8 days, submit a specific request for a residence permit.
FOR FOREIGN CITIZEN HOLDER OF A RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR SUBORDINATE, INDEPENDENT WORK OR FOR FAMILY REASONS, AS A CONVERSION OF THE RESIDENCE PERMIT
The residence permit for elective residence is also recognized in the conversion phase, to the foreign citizen who already holds a residence permit for subordinate work, self-employment, family reasons. In this case, it is valid if the applicant stops working and becomes the holder of a pension (old age, invalidity, social security ..) or annuities or annuities. Where annuity can also be understood as winning a lottery or another prize that guarantees the economic stability of the foreign citizen in Italy. The foreigner must demonstrate that he is able to maintain himself independently in Italy without carrying out any work activity, since he has adequate financial skills
OTHER SITUATIONS OF ISSUE OF A RESIDENCE PERMIT
The residence permit for elective residence is also valid for the cohabiting spouse, minor children, cohabiting and dependent adult children and dependent cohabiting parents.
The residence permit for elective residence is also issued to the foreign citizen as a family member of a community citizen. This is in case it is not a family member. This therefore applies specifically to cohabitants of EU citizens. The relationship of stable coexistence or kinship must be demonstrated through suitable documentation issued by the State in which the EU citizen lived before the transfer to Italy.
TO THE VATICAN EMPLOYED FOREIGN CITIZEN
Foreign employees, religious or lay, who are employed for an institution in Vatican City but who work in Italy, obtain a residence permit for elective residence because the source of income from work is neither perceived nor declared in Italy.
